Please note the following guidance for hauliers received from UK HMRC in respect to this weekend’s CDS outage, which will impact your ability to create Goods Movement References (GMRs) that include any CDS declarations.
This will affect:
- All movements between Great Britain and Northern Ireland,
- selected movements between NI and GB (where a GMR is needed) and
- GB to EU export movements through GVMS locations (for Stena Line, Holyhead and Fishguard).
During the period of downtime there is no change to the requirements for GMRs at check in, so it is important to complete all GVMS activities relating to sailings that fall within this period, before the downtime begins.
HMRC informs:
As part of our ongoing IT improvements, the Customs Declaration Service (CDS) will undergo essential maintenance for 7.5 hours from 9:30pm Saturday 29 January 2022 to 5:00am Sunday 30 January 2022. This will impact the Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS).
Haulier steps to take:
Please ensure you have completed all your GVMS related actions prior to 9:30pm on Saturday 29 January 2022.
It will not be possible to create Goods Movement References (GMRs) or make amendments or updates to GMRs which include any CDS declarations during this downtime (9:30pm Saturday 29 January to 5:00am Sunday 30 January).
We have informed carriers about the steps to take and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
You can find out about downtime and technical issues with HMRC services via GOV.UK.
