It's tough at the moment and everyone seems to be complaining about the lack of toilet paper. But through it all there’s probably one voice of reason - your Mum!
She’s the one reminding us to stay calm and wash our hands whilst calling the woman down the road who’s stock piling pasta. Good old Mum.
So, whilst you might be anxious about the Coronavirus and things are more difficult than usual, don’t worry about Mother’s Day, we’ve got a few suggestions. Whether you’re having to self-isolate at home, your out delivering in your van or truck or you live far away, here are five top gifts for the special lady.
Keep her connected
It’s hard enough being apart at the best of times, but when it’s unavoidable it’s bound to feel more ominous than usual.
Keep communicating by ordering her some tech that enables you to video chat. It’s not face-to-face contact, but it’s better than nothing at all.
How about a smart home device like an Amazon Echo Show or Google Nest Hub Max? It allows you to chat like you were next to one another. You can even hang up when she starts to annoy you!
Send flowers
Whether it’s a yearly tradition or just to cheer her up, you don’t need to leave the house to send your Mum flowers. That’s right, you can order a bouquet anywhere at any time via the internet - 2020, what a time to be alive!
There are loads of online florists, so get yourself online and get a bunch of Tulips ordered.
Treat her to some online streaming
There’s nothing worse than being stuck in self-isolation and rubbish telly. So, whilst she sees fit to remind you of the days when there were only three channels, treat her to the limitless world of Netflix, Now TV, Amazon Prime and many others.
It’s great because you can set her up remotely. All she’ll have to do is log in. Never listen to her complain about there being nothing on TV ever again.
Order a meal delivery online
Everyone likes to eat out in a nice restaurant but social distancing means we probably need to change our habits for a little while. Why not support your local businesses who offer a delivery service by getting some gift vouchers from them. Alternatively, just order a meal and get it delivered straight to your Mum’s house.
Another option is to order something posh from an online food store as a treat. Just search for 'online meal kit'.
Let mum take a break from menu planning this Mother’s Day.
Get her reading or listening
Whether your mum likes to read or just listen (no jokes about not listening please), there are loads of ways to immerse yourself in a good story. Everything is online! Sign her up for an audio book subscription service, order her an eReader or get some new books delivered online from a popular online bookshop. You could even sign her up for a new magazine subscription if books are not her thing.
Whatever your budget or circumstances, there’s something to surprise your Mum with this Sunday. And remember, it’s the fact it’s come from you that’s most important.
