Whether it’s your first freight delivery to the continent or you’re taking a trip to a new destination for the first time, the facilities on board the ferry you take are important. They’ll make the difference between a comfortable trip and a terrible one. Long haul drivers will want to know about sleeping and cabin arrangements, while short haul drivers will almost certainly want WiFI and a bite to eat.

We’ve spoken to all of our ferry operators about the services and facilities they provide to ensure a stress, hassle free, relaxing journey.

Stena Line

Stena Line provide a variety of facilities and amenities on their ferries, exclusively for HGV truck drivers.

Lounge & Dining

Exclusive lounges and dining areas include complimentary food and beverages, Sky TV, free WiFi, newspapers and magazines.

The Cairnryan to Belfast route also has shower and toilet facilities for HGV drivers. As this is a short route, reclining chairs are provided for relaxation.

All freight drivers are entitled to a 20% discount in the onboard shops.

Accommodation

Cabins are available on Liverpool, Holyhead, Fishguard and Cherbourg routes.

Every cabin is shared (except Belfast to Heysham which is sole occupancy) with facilities including ensuite shower & WC and a desk with power sockets.

Premium cabin upgrades are available to drivers at a reduced rate.

Flat screen digital TVs are available in all cabins on the Liverpool to Belfast route.

Eurotunnel Le Shuttle Freight

Eurotunnel are currently upgrading their freight driver lounge facilities, which are expected to be completed by early 2017.

Lounge & Dining

Facilities in the new drivers lounge in Folkestone will include free WiFi, phone charging facilities, drink & snack vending machines, TV screens, seating areas and showers & toilets.

In Coquelles, a service station dedicated to HGV drivers has been recently refurbished and offers fuel facilities, a restaurant, snacks and pastries, a shop, free wifi, toilets, etc. Drivers can also use Eurotunnel’s secure parking facilities, just off J42 of the A16 motorway before starting their journey across the Channel.

Drivers can grab hot & cold drinks and confectioneries on board the club cars, as well as in the boarding lanes.

All shuttle club cars will soon feature new TV screens and free WiFi.

DFDS Seaways

The ‘Road Kings’ facility provided on DFDS Seaways ferries from Dover to Dunkerque & Calais is exclusively for HGV drivers.

Lounge & Dining

Every driver is entitled to a free main meal with a drink in the exclusive drivers lounge. Free shower facilities and WiFi are available.

Drivers can purchase AGES Euro-vignette certificates, UK HGV Levy & Dart Toll charges on board.

A 10% discount is available for on board purchases (excluding cigarettes and alcohol).

Seatruck Ferries

Lounge & Dining

Seatruck provides a comfortable passenger lounge with Sky TV, tea & coffee making facilities, snacks and a selection of two meals per crossing cooked to order included.

Irish Ferries

Every Irish Ferries ferry provides WiFi, phone charging and TV facilities for freight drivers in the dedicated drivers lounge. Cabins and showers are also available.

Brittany Ferries

Drivers on Brittany Ferries are entitled to use all of the entertainment & passenger facilities available. These include

• free WiFi in public areas
• cinema
• live entertainment including music acts, close magicians and headline acts
• Bureau de Change

Lounge & Dining

The lounge is specially reserved for freight drivers with 50% off meals on channel routes and free meals on Spanish routes. This includes snacks, buffet, hot dishes, hot & cold beverages, beer, wine and cider.

Bars and restaurants are available on all ships (excluding the Pelican freight only ferry).

Accommodation

Brittany Ferries provides air conditioned, en suite shared cabins with linen & toiletries provided free of charge. With or without porthole cabins are available with plug sockets for phone charging. A plug adaptor may be required.

Polferries

There isn’t a specific drivers lounge for HGV drivers, however Polferries is ‘well known for delicious food!’

Two meals and soft drinks are included in every ticket and a special loyalty scheme is available - 70 Polish Zloty to spend in the ferry shops after seven confirmed trips.

Unity Line

Lounge & Dining

Unity Line provides a special driver catering area on board with a TV lounge, two meals with soft drinks included and special offers in the ferry shops.

Accommodation

All cabins have an ensuite bathroom with towels, body wash and shampoo included. Air conditioning and phone charging points are available.

Superfast Ferries facilities are available to all passengers. These include

‘Silent drivers’ cabins with access to local TV channels and plug sockets for electrical items.

A HGV drivers lounge on the Helsinki to Stockholm route provides meals and non-alcoholic drinks. WiFi and phone charging facilities are also available.

Don’t fear a lonely journey on board Adria Ferries! With pre-advanced booking, you’re welcome to bring along your four legged friend when you sail. The ships include specialised pet cabins, areas to walk and comfortable kennels should you wish to house them.

All three Adria ships contained well stocked bars and restaurants, duty free shops, screenings of current films and sports, a driver's lounge and dedicated smoking areas.

Accommodation

Offering a number of short journeys in and around Denmark, Aeroe Ferries allows you to travel in comfort for their one hour crossing, multiple times a day.

The facilities on board Africa Morocco vessels are shared with passengers and drivers, alike. There is a restaurant and bar to grab something to eat or drink, along with entertainment facilities and an on board gift shop to pass the time.

Balearia

Balearia has a fleet of seventeen ships offering voyages across the globe, therefore, the facilities are all dependent on the vessel you are on.

Lounge and Dining

All ships are equipped with a cafeteria, the larger of the fleet contain a handful of restaurants, including a bar. This is accompanied by a seating area, gift shops, pet facilities, disabled access and on-board WiFi.

Accommodation

Whilst cabins are not guaranteed on short journeys, where applicable all cabins come equipped with toilet and washing facilities.

Blue Star Ferries

Aboard the Blue Star Ferries freight ships, there is a Drivers' Lounge to relax in with televisions and board games available. A bar and restaurant, video games, a small ship, WIFI and an ATM. Depending on the vessel, additional amenities include a swimming pool, internet corner, a disco and a casino. Drivers also have access to coin operated telephones and use their own mobile devices via the online satellite service.

On overnight sailings, four berth cabins are available with bathroom facilities.

Pets are welcome aboard Caledonian MacBrayne vessels and all ships come with purpose built pet decks to ensure for optimum travel for all passengers. There are various lounges all can enjoy, including a TV Lounge where you can catch up on your favourite programmes or an observation lounge where you can take in the views of your surroundings. Amenities also include a coffee shop, a cafeteria, a bar, a shop and depending on the vessel, an onboard casino. Free WIFI is also available.

A freight exclusive company, Cobelfret travels all around Britain, Europe and Scandinavia in a number of their weekly voyages. Equipped with fifteen ships within the fleet, you’ll be able to travel in ease, away from the public with their trucker only services.

On board Corsica Linea ferries there are multiple facilities to enjoy. There is a restaurant and bar, in which to grab something to eat and drink and a driver’s lounge to wait out the sailing away from the bustle of other passengers. Also included are pet areas, complimentary WIFI and Satellite connection. Additional facilities available on some ships, include an infirmary and swimming pool.

Accomodation

Depending on the sailing, passengers will be allocated a cabin, in which there are bathroom facilities.

Amenities onboard Destination Gotland vessels include a shop and food market, always open upon departure. In addition, there is a restaurant to grab a bite to eat during peak times.

Eckero Line

Eckero Line offer a specialised line aboard the M/S Finlandia, meaning your voyage with be exclusively cargo friendly.

Due to the short sailing length, cabins are not a standard feature, however there are shower facilities onboard, regardless. Services on board also include a cafeteria, bar, duty free shop, lounge, free WIFI and streaming of currently delivision.

Grandi Navi Veloci

As one of the Mediterranean’s largest ferry company, both in passenger and freight ships, Grandi Navi Veloci’s fleet are well equipped to keep you fed, watered, rested and entertained the whole way through. Pets are accepted so if you’re travelling with a friend, you needn’t worry about being lonely!

Lounge and Dining

Facilities vary depending on the ship travelled on and the duration of the voyage, however, aboard there is a self service cafeteria and a dine in restaurant, with a bar - all meals during the journey are included. Depending on the ship, there is also a pizzeria. There is also a duty free shop, an onboard cinema, games room and drivers’ lounge. Also included is free WIFI.

Accommodation

Cabins are not guaranteed depending on length of journey, however, when they are they vary in capacity and come with bathroom facilities.

Isle of Man Steam Packet

Due to the shortness of the voyage on Isle of Man Steam Packet ships, facilities are smaller but by no means less comfortable!

On board there is an array of eateries, including a restaurant, a Costa and a bar - each ticket includes a meal ticket so put away your wallet. There is also a duty free shop, varying lounges and shower facilities.

Jadrolinija Lines

With a fleet of over 57 vessels, 37 of which are passenger only, Jadrolinija Lines has had more than its fair share of experience, having the capacity to make 600 journeys, daily. Therefore, they want only the best for their passengers.

Facilities on board include a large coffee bar, a restaurant with space for over 200, a lounge with TVs, a bar to grab a drink and a chapel.

La Meridionale

Originally a freight only internationally shipping company, La Meridionale has been in the business for only eight years, having branched out to encompass passengers aboard their fleet, they’ve also branched out in their creature comforts.

Lounge and Dining

All vessels include a standard of various restaurants and a bar to keep you satiated aboard your journey. A cinema with the latest releases, kennels for welcomed well behaved animals, vending machines, lounge and a games room on two of the three ships.

Accommodation

Though cabins are not guaranteed on each sailing. Where you are travelling on an overnight passage there is an allocated cabin, which includes a comfortable berth, an area to relax and shower facilities. Capacity varies per voyage.

Minoan Lines

Minoan Lines expanded in recent years and its fleet is made up five ships. All of which are large, modern and well equipped for the journey.

Restaurants

Amenities on board include restaurants, a bar, a drivers’ lounge, on board shop, inclusive WIFI and even a casino and swimming pool.

Accommodation

Though a cabin is not immediately allocated, depending on voyage times, one may be assigned. Cabins include berths and shower facilities, available for the duration of the voyage.

Moby Lines offer an extensive array of ships which travel all across Europe. Combining passenger and freight vessels, Moby are renowned across the world for their comically adorned livery - their insides are also equally entertaining.

Lounge and Dining

Facilities onboard include a  number of options to eat - including an a la carte restaurant, self service option for quicker bite to eat, an authentic neapolitan and a further cafe and snack bar.  There is a lounge and piano bar to relax in, featuring televisions which show the latest shows and a cinema room to catch up on the latest movies. For something a little more active there is also a game room, shopping area and swimming pool aboard certain vessels. Additional features also include internet and wifi access.

Accomodation

All allocated cabins come equipped with berths and bathroom facilities, with varying occupancy levels. The cabins also have electrical sockets for you to recharge your smartphone, tablet or camera.

Montenegro Lines offer a straightforward service to and from Bar-Bari, they also offer straightforward and comfortable facilities on their vessels.

Though established in the 1940’s, Naviera Armas operationalised a complete change to their services in 1995 when they extended their services to encompass both freight and passenger voyages, developing from a commercial ferry line. The company has continued to expand ever since.

Facilities onboard Naviera include a self service restaurant, a cafe and a bar. There is a shop where you can do a spot of duty free shopping, a number of open air decks, a pool, a gym and a lounge area. There is a dedicated tv room where you can catch up on the latest screenings along with internet access at varying rates. Meal vouchers are also included.

Cabins are available depending on the voyage and include berths and shower facilities.

Northlink Ferries offers both freight and passenger lines, in and around Scotland. With a three vessel fleet operational, it provides a dedicated and enjoyable service for all travellers.

The short one hour journey between Havenby and List runs multiple times a day and Sylt Ferry have everything on board to allow your journey to be both fast and stressless.

Tirrenia Lines

Formed in 1936, Tirrenia Lines has expanded unrecognisably within the last eighty years and now operate twenty three vessels, providing crossing across Sardinia and to Sicily. Offering a mixed passenger-freight service, Tirrenia ensures all voyages will be speedy and comfortable.

Lounge and Dining

Facilities on board include an a la carte restaurant, self service canteen and bar. For a quick bite there are also vending machines available. There are a number of lounges in which you can relax during the journey and even a cinema where you can catch the latest releases. Additional amenities also include a duty free shop, on board wifi and telephone connection and air conditioning.

Accommodation

Cabins are not automatically included, they will instead, depend on the voyage. When available, each include berths (of varying capacity), shower and toilet facilities and electricity sockets.

Trasmediterranea

After celebrating its centenary in 2017, Trasmediterranea continue to develop both its services and performance allowing it to remain one of the oldest fleets in the business.

Lounge and Dining

Facilities on board varying depending on the vessel/length of voyage, but as a standard, they include a canteen, lounge area, duty free shop and vending machine with access to WIFI. Each ticket also included a free meal voucher.

Accommodation

Cabins are also in the ticket price for the duration of the journey. They are of varying capacity, but all include a berth, shower facilities and electricity sockets.

TTT Lines

Operating between Catania-Naples with two ships in its fleet, TTT Lines is a relatively new company in its infancy, being formed in 2015. However, it offers state of the art ships and facilities.

The twelve hour crossing allows time to enjoy the self service cafeteria, bar and seating area, which airs shows.

Accommodation

Cabins are available upon certain bookings and come with a range of capacity, with or without bathrooms.

UKR Ferry

Founded in 1995, UKR Ferry has been a dominant feature in the Black Sea ever since, offering routes between Ukraine, Turkey and Georgia.

Lounge and Dining

Facilities on board include a restaurant and bar to grab something to eat, all of which is included in the cost of the ticket. There are also an array of facilities to keep you entertained, including a Cinema Room showing the latest releases, a sauna and pool and if you prefer to remain a little more active there is also a games room and a gym.

Accommodation

Accommodation varies depending on the vessel. However, each cabin contains berths of varying capacity, bathroom facilities and electricity ports.

Ventouris Ferries

Offering a direct route between Bari - Durres, Ventouris Ferries offers a fuss free sailing option for all passengers, both domestic and freight, alike.

Lounge and Dining

The ships offer different eateries, including an a la carte restaurant, a self service canteen, a cafe and a bar. There is also a duty free shop, cinema, conference room and lounge on board. Additional amenities include air conditioning, WIFI internet and GSM telephone connection.

Virtu Ferries

Virtu Ferries offers a year round service between Sicily and Malta. The direct route between Pozallo to Valetta sails twice a day and offers a direct route for passengers and freight.

Wightlink Ferries

Offering a short journey to and from the Isle of Wight, Wightlink Ferries crossings date all the way back to 1796! We’re happy to say facilities on board have improved greatly since then!

Eateries on board include Wightlink Taste and Costa Coffee outlets where you can grab something hot or cold on your voyage.

You can relax in front of the TV in the ships film area or have a flutter in their gambling section or just read the morning paper in one of their lounges.

Shower facilities are also available on board.

Salamis Lines

Salamis Lines offer ferry crossings between Greece and Cyprus. The service to Cyprus is currently a freight only ship, therefore facilities vary depending on your vessel.

Lounge and Dining

Whilst amenities are dependent on the vessel, standards aboard Salamis, as a basic, include a canteen, lounge area, duty free shop and vending machine with access to WIFI. Each ticket also included a free meal voucher.

Accommodation

Cabins are also in the ticket price for the duration of the journey. They are of varying capacity, but all include a berth, shower facilities and electricity sockets.
